Testimonials

Our 7 hours of flight time was intense and tiring but productive and satisfying.

Now home and having had a couple of days to decompress from my training I wanted to check back in and thank you for your efforts in helping me to obtain my seaplane rating while helping me to develop m piloting skills in general.

I mentioned before to you, I recall, that I really liked your instructional methods and coaching style. You were both challenging and supportive. You were effective at jacking me up when required without hurting my self-confidence. You understood that type of flying that I was aspiring to do and related your instruction and advice to the Searey. You used our time together to best advantage. Our 7 hours of flight time was intense and tiring but productive and satisfying and cost efficient.

You suggested that I provide comments n Facebook but I’m not a member. But I’d be pleased to provide recommendations and references in other ways. Don’t hesitate to provide my contact info to prospective clients as you deem appropriate.

I have just applied to join the BC Floatplane Association and have suggested to them that they identify Pacific Seaplanes in their website list of seaplane training schools. I have provided them with my comments about training with you.

“without a doubt the best seaplane instruction that can be had on the West Coast”

“I received seaplane training from Randy Hanna a number of years ago. Having completed both my basic rating and 50 hour advanced course, I can say that the training received was incredible. Over the course of a few weeks, we covered flying in a variety of west coast locations. I learned many different skills, from the busy low-level routes between Vancouver and the island, to the high altitude lakes and mountains of the coastal range.

Randy is a very effective and patient instructor. He builds on the lessons learned in previous flights, continually improving on problem solving and flight skills. One thing I particularly like is his emphasis on worst case planning. Every situation approached in a seaplane, whether a routine docking or a difficult landing, must have some form of backup plan; an escape route for when things go amiss.

Throughout Randy’s program this idea is stressed repeatedly, and he provides constant demonstration of the skills to apply in different

situations. Knowing how to plan for the worst is a vital skill in seaplane flying, and Randy’s training program provides excellent knowledge in this regard.

I found the training experience extremely rewarding, and it proved to be a key part in obtaining my first commercial seaplane job. I would recommend Randy’s course to anyone with an interest in flying seaplanes. Whether pursuing a career or just for personal interest, Randy’s program is a must for any aspiring seaplane pilot.

Years later, I still recall lessons taught to me by Randy when approaching a difficult landing or docking situation. His training is without a doubt the best seaplane instruction that can be had on the west coast.”

“highly recommend it to anyone considering a commercial float plane career”

“Having completed the 50 hour mentorship course with Randy Hanna, I found it to be a valuable and rewarding experience. Randy has a wealth of experience to draw on and always has the tips needed to nudge you in the right direction. Through his mentorship I was able to glean a valuable insight into the world of commercial float flying. Every flight was held to the standards of a commercial operator, down to rehearsing the perfect passenger safety briefing! Safety was always the primary focus, and Randy’s long career has inspired him to make flying as safe as possible for the next generation of float pilots. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Pacific Seaplanes and would highly recommend it to anyone considering a commercial float plane flying career”.
